On alternate years from the International C. elegans Meeting at UCLA, there are specific regional and topical meetings held at various locations around the world. WormBase includes the abstracts from these meetings in our database.

Here are the steps for getting the regional and topical meeting abstracts into postgres and then WormBase:

Contact Meeting Organizers to Ask for Their Assistance

Meeting organizers typically contact WormBase to ask for help in announcing their meeting. This help usually comes in the form of a News item for the homepage as well as an email announcement to the WormBase mailing list.

Typical locations and topics include:

  • East Asia C. elegans Meeting
  • Development and Gene Expression
  • Evolutionary Biology of C. elegans
  • Neurobiology
  • C. elegans Males
  • Aging, Pathogenesis, Stress Response

Formatting Meeting Abstracts for WormBase

  • Unlike the International Meeting abstracts for regional and topical meetings can come to us in a variety of formats.
  • For the 2012 Madison meetings, the abstracts were in Microsoft Access format.
  • I converted the Madison meeting abstracts to an Excel format using an app, MDB Viewer.
